WEEK 16: LANGUAGE (Pilar Victoria Martínez)




Surfing the Internet, I have found this map which represents the most important languages in the world and where are they spoken. I think it is worth-mentioning the fact that English is one of the most spoken languages in the world, just like Spanish and Chinese.

Nowadays, I can say that I speak fluidly two languages: Spanish, which is my mother tongue, and English. I am also learning German and I have a completely basic level, which I would love to improve because it is a very important language in Europe and I would like to visit the country someday. Also, I would love to learn some other different languages just as Japanese or Chinese, although I think they may be very difficult for me. Another language I used to study in high school and I would like to take up again is French, in order to make up for the level I had.

This week, in order to improve my English, I started watching a TV show called Black Mirror.

WEEK 20: RAVE REVIEWS (Celia Mantilla Fernández)

First of all, here is the link of the review I´m gonna comment on:  https://geeks.media/classic-review-the-picture-of-dorian-gray To begin with, the first part of the review should include a eye-catching title, but it does not include it. The first two paragraphs could be mix into onebut it is a good introduction. Then we have a paragraph with further information. And then four paragraphs after that where the writer gives a detail summary of what is being reviewed. Finally we have the final paragraph where the writer states a good conclusion which includes some recommendations. This week I´ve tried to improve my English by watching some films in English.

WEEK 27: COMPLAINING (Pilar Victoria Martínez)

Some other phrasal verbs are: beat down, get up, give away, back into, set about, be away, count down, etc. By searching of the internet, I have found a complaint letter in which many expressions to complain appears: Dear Sir/Madam:  I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction  at the disgraceful treatment I received at the Walford Branco of Stimpson’s Electronics yesterday afternoon. Firstly, the product I was given  was not the model I had asked for . The new X-401 calculator was demonstrated to me by the sales assistant, and I agreed to buy it. However, on unpacking my purchase, I saw that I had been given the smaller X-201 model instead. Furthermore, this calculator was much cheaper than the model I requested and paid for. It did not have many of the features I needed and was much more basic than the one I was shown to begin with.
