WEEK 20: RAVE REVIEWS (Pilar Victoria Martínez)




This is a review I found on the Netflix animated series “Hilda”:

In the first and second paragraph, the author talks a little about the origins and mixes his personal opinion with facts about the style of the series. In the 3rd and 4th paragraphs, he talks about his daughter and personal life.
Then, the author explains the plot of the series, the animation and the principal characters, opening the way for some paragraphs on the first two episodes which contains a lot of spoilers. Then, he compares Hilda with other cartoons and to finalize, made an analysis on its approach.

This week, in order to improve my English I started reading “A Skinful of Shadows” for a literature project.

First of all, here is the link of the review I´m gonna comment on:  https://geeks.media/classic-review-the-picture-of-dorian-gray To begin with, the first part of the review should include a eye-catching title, but it does not include it. The first two paragraphs could be mix into onebut it is a good introduction. Then we have a paragraph with further information. And then four paragraphs after that where the writer gives a detail summary of what is being reviewed. Finally we have the final paragraph where the writer states a good conclusion which includes some recommendations. This week I´ve tried to improve my English by watching some films in English.

WEEK 27: COMPLAINING (Pilar Victoria Martínez)

Some other phrasal verbs are: beat down, get up, give away, back into, set about, be away, count down, etc. By searching of the internet, I have found a complaint letter in which many expressions to complain appears: Dear Sir/Madam:  I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction  at the disgraceful treatment I received at the Walford Branco of Stimpson’s Electronics yesterday afternoon. Firstly, the product I was given  was not the model I had asked for . The new X-401 calculator was demonstrated to me by the sales assistant, and I agreed to buy it. However, on unpacking my purchase, I saw that I had been given the smaller X-201 model instead. Furthermore, this calculator was much cheaper than the model I requested and paid for. It did not have many of the features I needed and was much more basic than the one I was shown to begin with.
